They see Helsinki, buy a souvenir, maybe find a sauna somewhere, and fly home.<\/p>\n
We’re going a little further.<\/p>\n
Not to luxury resorts. Not to wellness centres.<\/p>\n
We’re heading to the places where Finns actually spend their weekends.<\/p>\n
Where the fire is lit before dinner.<\/p>\n
Where the sea is cold, even in summer.<\/p>\n
Where conversations happen without phones on the table.<\/p>\n
And where nobody thinks it’s strange to disappear into a sauna three times a day.<\/p>\n
This isn’t about escaping your life.<\/p>\n
It’s about stepping into someone else’s for a weekend.<\/p>\n
Our first stop is Sompasauna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n No reception.<\/p>\n No staff.<\/p>\n No entrance fee.<\/p>\n Just three wood fired saunas, a pile of chopped logs and people quietly looking after a place that belongs to everyone and no one at the same time.<\/p>\n You’ll sweat.<\/p>\n You’ll cool off in the Baltic Sea.<\/p>\n You’ll probably wonder why we don’t live like this more often.<\/p>\n From there we drive to Taalintehdas<\/strong>, on Kemi\u00f6nsaari<\/strong>.<\/p>\n An old ironworks village surrounded by forests and sea.<\/p>\n We’ll stay on a small farm with its own shoreline.<\/p>\n Nothing fancy.<\/p>\n Exactly as it should be.<\/p>\n That evening we’ll light a fire on the beach, warm up the trailer sauna, roast Finnish sausages and let Finland do what it does best.<\/p>\n Slow everything down.<\/p>\n The next day takes us to Purunp\u00e4\u00e4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Granite shaped by ice.<\/p>\n Wind twisted pine trees.<\/p>\n The smell of resin.<\/p>\n The sound of waves hitting the rocks.<\/p>\n We’ll walk.<\/p>\n We’ll stop often.<\/p>\n We’ll talk about the plants growing around us and collect a few that will find their way into the evening’s sauna ceremony.<\/p>\n No hurry.<\/p>\n There’s nowhere else we’re supposed to be.<\/p>\n By evening the sauna is hot.<\/p>\n The wood has burned down to glowing embers.<\/p>\n Together, Xavier and Johannes guide a sauna and plant based ceremony inspired by Finnish traditions, nature and ritual.<\/p>\n No spectacle.<\/p>\n No pretending.<\/p>\n Just heat, cold, plants, breath and the kind of silence that’s becoming increasingly rare.<\/p>\n On Sunday we’ll share breakfast, enjoy one final sauna and make our way back to Helsinki.<\/p>\n Three days isn’t enough to understand Finland.<\/p>\n But it’s enough to understand why so many people keep coming back.<\/p>\n Come with us.<\/p>\n We’ll introduce you to a side of Finland that most visitors never get to see.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Most people visit Finland for a few days.
